I AM Artificial Intelligence (IAMAI) is a company based in the Netherlands that focuses on making Intelligent Apps. TombReader is a project within IAMAI in collaboration with the UvA and the STW.

Morris acquired a MSc degree in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Amsterdam. His master thesis titled “Automatic Egyptian Hieroglyph Recognition by Retrieving Images as Texts” market the beginning of TombReader. Morris is founder of IAMAI and responsible for the development of TombReader, including the Computer Vision implementations and the Android app.

Dr. Jan van Gemert linkedinIcon

Jan van Gemert obtained a BSc degree in applied Computer Science from Fontys University of Applied technology; a MSc in Artificial Intelligence from the the University of Amsterdam on image and text retrieval; a PhD in Computer Vision on large-scale image classification. Jan is currently teaching Computer Vision at the UvA, which is a Field in Artificial Intelligence with the aim of creating software for analysing and understanding images such that computers themselves can gain a deeper understanding of visual content. Aside from teaching, Jan is also Chief Science Officer of IAMAI and has been involved with TombReader intensively from the start by laying the foundation for the project. He is responsible for guiding TombReader in the right direction. His years of experience in the field of Computer Vision has enabled TombReader to make use of the best methods available and tweak them accordingly for the domain.
